A few years ago I convinced my boss to send me to a Java training course - on a cruise in the Caribbean. Yeah, I know, stroke of genius.

But the point of this comment is not to brag about free trips, no, it is to tell you that the jSchwa speaks the truth.

On board the boat was none other than Mr Randal Schwartz himself; Mr Perl, the Perl-meister. One night in the bar he was telling us that he makes girls go ga-ga when he tells them he invented Perl, works all the time. I can’t remember my response since I think I didn’t stop laughing for several days.

Oops, slight misremember…. he’s the author of the Camel book, and his pickup line was that he was the “camel book guy”.

Oh yeah, that tech crap always makes me HOT, if you define “hot” as the eyes glazing over, an inability to follow the conversation which leads to high conversation like, “Yup, uh-huh, hey, did I think I see something shiny over there — far away.”

Then, sure — it is totally hot.
