Typoes

This one has been building up for a little bit. So, I’m going to get right to it.

rant ON

I really wish I had the balls, gall or whatever it is that is required to point out typos, grammatical errors or other mistakes make on a public website to the author. Really. Nothing would make me happier that to be a part of the grammar police.

It has never happened hear, but that’s because I think you, the loyal w(t)f reader, is kind, understanding and now that I just throw these posts up quick beofre I loose the thought.

But at the other site, my readers there (which, BTW, outnumber you 1000 to 1) are a little pickier. It’s still a blog, but damn if I have a typo and someone isn’t all over it like a bum on a ham sandwich.

While I can appreciate the fact that someone has actually taken the time to either run spell check for me on my posts or they are English majors that see it as their duty to point out such travesties (you w(t)f reading English majors are excluded), I really don’t appreciate the fact that they see it as their job to play grammar police.

I’m trying gang. I know I have to since I am also posting on a site that outnumbers the other sites readers about a million to one. I’ve stepped up my writing, using w(t)f as a practice area. I’m using spell check (no, not here) and re-reading my posts to check for grammar mistakes, misplaced ‘ (it’s and/or its) and making sure to virtually dot my i’s.

But I, and others like me, make mistaks. It’s only natural that we do. As much as it bothers me to say this, I am not perfect!

I would really just like a wee bit of slack. Not a whole lot, just a little. I don’t think that’s asking too much.

rant OFF

Again, as usual, thank you for reading. All typos in this particular document were intentional as far as you know and no characters were hurt during the posting of this message.

And, if you twitter, feel free to add me to your friends. Or, just keep an eye on the widget over there to see what kind of weird randomness I might or might not type.

Hmm… in google reader your post made sense. When I go to the page I get the following:

Warning: pregreplace() [function.preg-replace]: Unknown modifier ‘/’ in /home/dbwilldo/publichtml/wp-content/plugins/google-hilite.php on line 107

Warning: pregreplace() [function.preg-replace]: Unknown modifier ‘r’ in /home/dbwilldo/publichtml/wp-content/plugins/google-hilite.php on line 105

    Typos indeed!

Interesting… googlereader took me to this URL when I clicked on the article - http://www.windthefrog.net/archive/wtf/typoes/

and I got the above errors. Going to the home page and clicking on the article gets the text I expected. But the URL appears the same…..

First, I’ll have it noted that while I’m a reader of the other site, I haven’t called in the grammer police. :) I agree it’s a frikken blog, these things happen, now if the blog posts were a mash a gammer errors, l33tspeak (which I loathe), and spelling problems, I’d just stop reading out of frustration.

However I know the feeling, I’ve made some posts over on the CP site thinking that they were all well and good… Only to reread them a few days later and wonder if I had my eyes open when I proofread the post!

Dang. Thanks for letting me know.

Guess that’s what I get for using an off-the-shelf theme eh?
