Did I mention I’m diggin’ Ubuntu? While I haven’t seen to many distros, I would guess that this one is the most Windows-user friendly of the bunch.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Mandriva. There were just way too many options. It was daunting and confusing. Ubuntu is still slightly confusing, but in a more comfortable way.
For example; I wanted to install Mozilla Thunderbird for mail. There is already a Ubuntu build available in the package manager. I want it to be my default email client? 3 clicks (that were easy to find) and I’m all set. So, all of my email accounts have been loaded as have all of my RSS feeds.
Sound works, but it would seem the players that came with only will import using OGG/Vorbis. Since I don’t ever comment on /., I think I’ll have to find a way to do mp3’s.
Still have to get access the 2nd drive in this machine, and setup networking so I can print, but I think I’ll have that done today.
Perhaps an entire week of no Windows is in order, where possible of course

Dont' sweat if your comment isn't showing up. It's currently being analyzed by the robots to ensure that you are, in fact, you and not one of those idiot spammers that spend their days and nights clogging the tubes.
If does seem to be taking longer than normal, contact db and he'll hook you up tootsweet! You know, 'cause that's the kind of guy he is (and he is also the boss of the ninja robots).
Finally, for those of you in the know, Markdown is available as it a very small set of HTML tags. If you are scratching your head, don't worry, it's just geek stuff. You can still comment!

You’re not an OGG zealot?! ‘Zounds, what kind of linux person are you
I am sooo tired of the /. brigade harping on about OGG not being on the iPod/Rio whatever.
Hmm… a week without Windows, wouldn’t I love that.

AcK! I don’t have anything that will play those damned files and so far I can’t seem to play MP3’s on this machine either.
I did manage to get the Zen connected tho. Now to get some media there that I can use…
Yea, off to a good start. I’ve been making an honest try of it, leaving the windows computer off for a good portion of the day. This would be easier with a laptop tho I think.
