For reals this time. Most firestorms, but wind too.
The wind really kicked up yesterday. 40-80mph gusts. Of course the fires followed shortly after. Currently there are about 15 major wildfires in Southern California. None of them near me. Nobody I know has had any problems yet although one person was evacuated. My fingers will stay crossed that nothing bad happens.
The sky is currently nothing but smoke and dust. It’s raining dirt just about everyone. Smokey dirt. So everything smells like a campfire. And dirt. Ugh.
The wind is supposed to die down tonight. Hopefully it will. It would be nice if half the state didn’t catch fire again like it did in ‘03. I would also like to get some sleep!
Ok, so I don’t have a water cooler in my office. Come to think of it, I spent all week cleaning and reloading a pc in the office, but that’s for another post.
I’m sure, that if there were a water cooler in my office, I would have heard something like… (Bionic Woman, Heroes, Chuck and The Office spoiler alert. If you haven’t seen the newest episodes by now, go someplace else.)
Heroes
- How did Sylar end up in Mexico?
- Honestly, the Superman stuff is pretty cheeseball
- Being able to do what you see if cool, but to what extent?
- Claire really shouldn’t have kissed that boy. Of course, if she had seen the picture…
- Parkman’s Dad? Possible Bad guy? whoa
- Who does Nathan keep seeing in the mirror? Did that happen to him after the explosion? does he have powers we don’t know about?
Chuck
- Is the Chuck and Sara story going to be as good as Jim and Pam? Time will tell
- Morgan is becoming quite annoying.
- However, Casey is becoming fun to watch
Bionic Woman
- How long until she tells her sister? I think it will be right before the show really starts to suck
- Why did she give the thumb drive back to that guy? ‘Bout the dumbest thing I’ve seen
- Even with taking about the bullet, no wincing? hmmmm
- Stopping the fan was cool, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t start back up. I saw smoke coming from the motor
The Office
- Moes is definitely a bizarre creature. The neck beard doesn’t help
- I’m pretty sure there isn’t really much to the agri-tourism industry
- I can’t believe Pam and Jim and are Dwight’s side. They are good people
- Andy is still annoying. And it’s getting annoying
- I don’t think Ryan’s ex has a un-crazy side
- Creed is just awesome. A person could learn a few things from him
- My arms don’t have core
- Bon Jovi on the flute by the dumpster. Awe. Some
- When I grow up I don’t want to be a presentation tool
That’s it for this week. Feel free to play along
Since I got back from MINI United, I’ve been trying very hard to see 25* on my scale. This has been one of the tougher goals in my journey to not be a ginormous fat ass (hey, I can self deprecate. It is, after all, my blog). Sometimes it’s not as easy to get to the gym, but I still go. I don’t want to, but I know I have to.
Earlier this week, I got on the scale and saw 259. A new 9. I was very excited! I called everyone! Yes, you too, but the line was busy. For those keeping score at home…
When this journey began, I’m pretty sure I was at 300lbs. But, since the only reading I have is 280 after 2 months of going to the gym, we’ll split the difference and say I was at 290lbs. I’m sure you have seen these, right?

Check out that shirt fit toward the bottom of the pic. That’s a XXL and it’s pretty snug. (I’m the guy in the backwards cap)
Check out this one too. I think I have about 4 chins and quite possibly, 2 faces.
That makes a total loss, so far, of 31lbs. Ok, so it has taken me almost a year, I’m still pretty happy with that.
Next stop? 249. I’m hopeful to hit that before the LA Auto Show or Thanksgiving (see, 2 goal dates. I rule!).
My final goal? By the time I actually have to say I’m (gulp) 40 (!), I want that damned thing to say 220. Actually, I’d like it to say 200 but I don’t think we are on that good of terms yet. But there is hope.
For whatever reason, within the last year all y’all have really been stepping up. I’ll explain.
When I started w(t)f it was merely a collection of crap. Really, I didn’t mind terribly when I lost the original blogger –> grey matter posts. There weren’t that good, really.
But now there is kind of a sense of focus. I try to stay on track as it were. I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job and the logs pretty much show that in increased readers. Oh yea, there are quite a bit more than the original 17 now. Not all of you comment, but you keep coming back, so that’s cool.
But, on occassion I do tend to stray. Or rant. Or both. For those posts, here is how it worked in the past.
I write the post to entertain you. Bonus if I get a giggle about it a week or a month later.
But lately, let’s say since late last year, it has changed a bit. Now, it pretty much works like this.
I write the post to enterain you. Bonus if I get a giggle about it a week or a month later. You comment and it ALWAYS entertains the hell out of me. Bonus it that it does a day or two later.
Nice work.
I like to think that you keep coming back for my posts. And I’m sure some of you do. But I also have to think that there are also you that come back for the comments as well. I know I do!
So, keep up the good work!
For whatever reason, this season I seem to be watching more network television than I have in years past. Could it be that there are actually shows on worth watching? I might have to cry spoiler alert. If you haven’t seen this weeks Heroes or Chuck, turn away now.
When I was a kid watching television with Dad, we would get soooo pissed when an episode would flash on the screen …To be continued… Oh man we would yell, scream and basically through a hissy fit right there in front of the television until Mom would tell us to shut up. Now, there are seasons of shows that use this formula from one episode to the next.
Case in point would be Heroes. It’s really a mini series broken up into 23 pieces, but they call it a show. Last week’s episode was filler and explination and I really could have done without it. This week however has me wondering what is going to happen all over again. Parkman’s Dad? Wha wha wha? And what power does Uhura have? Does Maya have to be so whiny? How did Sylar get to Mexico? And, being able to do what you see without training or practice sounds cool, but how is it going to effect the show?
Case in not point would be Chuck. I have finally figured out what is so awesome about this show. It doesn’t try to be realistic, while trying to be overly realistic. They go so fantastically over the top that it is not only funny, but clever and the stories, so far, have been pretty good too. Bonus is it is on before Heroes, so I don’t even have to leave the couch.
And, finally, the third season of The Office has to be the best one yet. OMG. Did you see last week? Made with at least 100 pounds of awesome! It was so awesome it’s awesome. There are ways to get it if you missed it, catch me offline if you need some help.
Ok, Bionic Woman is later, but I’m going to miss it because I will be at Southbay MINI watching the premier of this seasons Street Tuner Challenge feature the Fireballed! guys and one trick MINI. Keep an eye on the flickr for pictures later.
