Ragin’

Dear Southern California Driver,

It has recently come to our attention that you are starting to develop a habit of driving more that 10MPH under the speed limit.

Please realize that we do appreciate your extra steps toward safety, but you are starting to upset your fellow drivers and we are getting letters.

Also, please note that the posted speed limit on Southern California freeways is 55 or 65 MPH and, when entering the roadway, it is your responsibilty to merge with traffic, not traffics responsibility to SLAM ON THE BRAKES SO AS NOT TO RUN INTO THE ASS END OF YOUR CAR, WHICH IS TRAVELING AT 35MPH! YOU DUMB MOUTH-BREATHING PIECE OF SHIT, STEP ON THE GAS!

We appreciate your attention to this matter.

Thank You

Sincerly,

Wind(the)Frog(dot)net

Tooting my own

Since most of you barely know what I look like, or rather, what I looked like, here are some notes I have compilied since I began my db-doesn’t-want-to-be-a-fatty routine. Plus, it will be in list form, which I seem to be a huge fan of lately. Anyway, here goes!

  • I, again, have wrist bones. The ones that get in the way of your watch. Yea, I haven’t seen those guys in a while.
  • I actually have some XL shirts I can wear again, including my MINI sweatshirt that I haven’t been able to wear for close to 2 years.
  • 2 numbers, 2 words. 15 pounds. 5 inches. (give or take)
  • My face is shrinking. I no longer have that chimpmunk look about me. Oh yea, I’m down to my last neck too.
  • In some places, there are muscles where there used to be rippling fat. I know, ick
  • I can take my jeans off with undo-ing the buttons. Easy there gang, this ain’t that kind of blog ;)
  • Ok, horn tooting time is done. But, to give you an idea… before after Check back in June…

Web 2. Point. Oh?

Oh sure. I’m a pretty savvy web guy as most of you already know.

I use del.icio.us, flickr, Gmail and Firefox with a big pile of extensions. I know what’s up. Hell, I even make a podcast!

But, there are 2 new tools, if you will, in my quiver and I’m liking them fine, so I thought I’d share.

The first some of you already know about. That would be Twitter. Part blog, kinda. Part IM, kinda. Part text message, kinda. You’ve seen the widget over there for awhile now (or, here for you feed readers) and I think it’s quite fun! What it does is allow you to post random messages for anyone to follow. You can post from the site, your phone, AIM, gtalk, and there is even a Firefox extension! Plus a snazzy app for the mac. There are already a bunch of folks using it, including the BBC and someone is posting the daily Woot offerings. Anyway, like I said, I think it’s fun. If you want to try it out, you can find me there as dbwilldo.

The next piece of web gadgetry I’ve been totally diggin’ is 30 boxes. It’s an online calendar. Yes, another online calendar, but this one totally picks up where the others leave off.

First, you can add entries by typing them in plain English. Tomorrow 11am meet the parents for example. You can import or export like you would expect. You can tag (like del.icio.us or gmail), it interacts with much of your other web2.0 stuff (flickr, twitter, del.icio.us and others I think) plus you can add whatever RSS feed you like. Now, here is the cool part. When you are looking at the calendar and you point at a day, EVERYTHING that happened on that day is listed. Flickr posts, rss feed items, whatever. It’s all there. Plus the now standard social networking aspect you have come to expect from these types of applications. Brilliant I say! Absolutely brilliant!

I highly recommend everything listed here. Especially 30boxes and (:gasp: you don’t use this already?)del.icio.us.

teh The Lad

Most of you have been following along as I have been playing single Dad, complete with all the problems that come with.

The biggest being the Lad’s grades.

Until now.

For the first time in his educational career (or since the 6th grade), he has brought home the greatest report ever! We are going to ignore the part about him falling his first semester of English for right now (he knows he fucked that up and will be finding out options later in the week) since the rest of his grades were pretty decent.

Math = B- (Up from a C) Photography - C (No change, but I’d be bored too only getting to watch movies). Health = B (up from a D!) Science = B (no change) PE = Doesn’t count.

I mentioned he knew he fucked up, right? So much that he actually hid his report card from me until he could get a current progress report from his English teacher to show that he is, in fact, getting a B in that class as well! And he finally has assignments in Photography, so I expect that grade to come up as well.

Took him long enough, but I think he has finally figured it out. Now to find the person responsible for providing that final kick in the pants and buy them a beer!

Don’t laugh

Why do some songs have to have the most rediculous lyrics? I ask this today because I will be telling you about my current workout playlist, which has some songs that are great to workout too, but have the silliest/dumbest/sickest/sexist/lamest lyrics ever. For example.

  • Track 1 in the list is Eminem Just Lose It. Great beat to get started with cardio, but man, the worst lyrics eva!
  • Track 2 is The Police Canary in a Coalmine. I have no complaints here. Great song.
  • Track 3 is the awesome I Feel Love by The Blue Man Group. Less club, more hard driving beat. I don’t really have any complaints here either, but the song only has 3 words anyway. Also, I can only listen to the first minute of this song. Any longer and I’m sure I’d passout on the elliptical. I hope to be able to go the entire 4:06 without passing out in about another week
  • Track 4 is The Red Hot Chili Peppers with Dani California. Actually like this song, including the lyrics. It’s a nice break after the last 3 tracks. It also signals that I’m almost done with cardio today.
