If dreaming made it so

How cool would this be? A complete home theatre system designed like the starship Enterprise from TNG.

“..I became aware of the new developments in the area of home theaters and digital video that would finally allow me to indulge my love of the big screen and science fiction, in particular.”

You can check out the photo gallery here.

Big reward for a dual boot

Now we’re talking!

Recent attempts at installing Windows XP have left users scratching their heads. Hopefully a $6000 prize will inspire creative thinking

This might blow my theory of MS doing it first, complete with a handy dandy installer. Just so long as it happens I guess eh?

Might be able to justify the cost of that silly named MacBook if it could dual boot fairly easily…

Maximum Awesomisity

It was a re-run sure, but watching Mythbusters vaporize a cement truck with almost half a ton of explosives was the definition of pure awesome.

That is all.

Email as conversation

Increasingly I’m beginning to notice a trend with the emails I send and receive to some people.

They are almost like a conversation.

Greeting? Skipped. Closing? Skipped. Message? Just the words of the conversation.

This is in no means a complaint. I find it very effcient sometimes to have, what are essentially, offline IM conversations, via email on certain topics with certain people.

Now, if I can just get some of the people I talk to on occassion to not treat the IM window like an email, I’ll be set.

11 Myths of Surge Protection

While overly geeky, the following I know for a fact to be true:

Myth #8. THE ONLY RISK FROM THE POWER LINE IS HARDWARE DAMAGE. Computers are vulnerable to data alterations as bit streams pass through microprocessors. Stray power surges can alter data or programs, causing data errors or lock-ups which cannot be traced. The consequential cost of such soft damage can be very high, especially if errors are not found and data files are contaminated.

Let me tell you that nothing, and I do mean nothing, will scramble an Access database faster than a power surge. I’ve seen it happen and it’s nasty stuff. (oh yea, this includes the Windows registry too)
