Security Flaw in Firefox Plugin

For those of you using the greasemonkey extension on Firefox…

Yesterday, Mark Pilgrim discovered and announced a very serious security vulnerability in Greasemonkey. The flaw allows any website which matches at least one user script (even * scripts) to read any local file on your machine, or to list the contents of local directories. The flaw applies to Greasemonkey on all platforms.

Happy Birthday!
“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past…and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America…with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

(hear it here)

Yes, that’s right gang. Today was the birthday of Disneyland. On this day in 1955 at 1313 Harbor Blvd in Anaheim, Walt gave the above speech that launched the most successful theme park ever.

I have many fond memories of the park myself. There was America Sings which was a big two-story spinning room that stopped to show a short, musical, animatronic skit. The music was awesome! The Jungle cruise, complete with smart ass boat ‘pilots’ and Tom Sawyer’s Island (yes, the caves do always smell like pee).

Don’t forgot those ‘E’ ticket rides either! The Matterhorn, despite it’s rough ride, is still as awesome toda as it was the first time I rode it. Space Mountain was the darkest, fastest ride in SoCal at the time. I’ve heard the remodel does it justice. And Pirates of the Carribean (yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me!). I actually had the soundtrack for that on LP way way way back in the day.

Let’s not forgot those rides that are no longer with us. The Inner Space ride was teh worst ever ride, unless you had a hottie make-out partner. The People Mover was slow and tedious but provided a nice break in the middle of the day. And the Smith Robinson Treehouse was just awesome!

Anyway, hope it was a great one! I’m sure Walt would be pleased at how you’ve progressed. Here’s to 50 more!

msn.com update

Just out of curiosity, I checked msn.com today to see if they were still blocking the right click.

They are not.

They are, however, blocking the center wheel button click in FireFox, sort of. Now, when you click with the mouse wheel (if you have one), it gets treated as both an open in new tab AND as a left button click.

The page also looks a lot different in FF too. Actually, better IMO. I really could never stand that stupid blue background.

I only help where I can

Chatting with a friend of mine this week. She’s been all excited about this new boy that she met. Smart, funny, good taste in music/movies/food and hunky to boot. The courting process took forever I thought, but they finally met and like fireworks, or so I was told.

Anyway, back to this week. She starts telling me how she is going to pretty much ignore his emails, eventhough a mutual friend of hers told her how much the new boy is just droolin’ all about her. And she said she didn’t care if she saw him this week or not. Huh? Said she liked spending time and all that, but that she lost interest, it got too easy.

I called her on it. In not so many words told her to stop with the games and either see him or don’t, but to let him know about it. She didn’t get it (so she said) and the subject was changed.

Move to the next day. She decided to stop gaming (her words, not mine) and totally admitted to it. Saying she didn’t know why she does that and blah blah blah. Oh yea, the best part, she thanked me for calling her out.

Yet another service db can provide. I was only too happy to help!

I said…

This has happened to me twice in the last couple of weeks.

I’ve mentioned I drive Ortega Hwy. every day.

I’ve mentioned a certain dislike for the rookies. This is why.

The rookies don’t know how fast things happen on this road. Like, we can be cruising along at 50 MPH or so when suddenly, a large truck could be pulling over or DRASTICALLY slowing down for a corner. Which then causes the entire line to suddenly slow or stop. You kinda have to pay attention and be on your toes.

Well, the asshat rookies, I shall call them chevGuy and hondaGrrl, have a thing for tailgating it would seem. First offender? hondaGrrl. For almost 3 miles this dumb ass decides that the MINI would look better if an Honda’s hood was protruding from the boot. She was right on my ass the entire time. I would speed up, she would speed up. I would hit the brakes, she would fall waaaay back, then speed up and resume her position on my ass. Fearing another accident, I just got out of her way. You know, she was in a way bigger hurry than me and getting that extra inch closer to the car 15 places up was important to her. Nice thing was that she repeated it with the next car she got behind.

Then there is dumb ass chevGuy. He was a special kind of asshat in that not only did he think it was necessary to ride 4 inches off of the back end of my car, but he was swerving in the lane at the same time, like he was trying to warm up those 14″x2.5″ tires or something. Same thing with this cat, I’d speed up, he’d speed up. But, when I slowed down, he hung right there off my back. Almost like a real life verson of Zuma*.

To the both of you I say BACK THE FUCK OFF. THERE ARE 20 CARS AHEAD OF ME, AND PUSHING AGAINST MY REAR BUMPER WILL NOT MAKE THAT DUMB FUCK PULL OVER OR GET YOU HOME ANY FASTER TO STUPID PILE OF CRAP! NEXT TIME I WILL HIT THE BRAKES SO HARD YOU WILL SLAM INTO THE BACK OF THE MINI AND CAREEN OFF THE MOUNTAIN AND DIE!

What? That a little strong? Well tough shit. At the very least I know that if you hit the back end of the MINI, my bumper will break and that’s about it. The entire front end of your car will be smashed to such an extent that not only will it not be driveable, but there is a good chance your car will be totalled in the process. As an added bonus, it will be your fault so your insurance rates will go up so high that you will be forced to spend the next 7 years riding a bus you fucking retard!

I’m just saying, keep back a little, ok? Like, if you can’t see my rear tires, there is a pretty good chance that you are maybe just a little too close.

*Cool game, too bad you have to have IE/Win to play it.
