History

Watchin’ TV tonight as the kids manned (kidded?) the door for treat or treaters. It was one of the major news guys interviewing Kerry and Bush, talking about this, that and the other thing. The one thing that kept popping up and really kinda bothered me was the focus on what has already happened. The war. The economy. Jobs. Blah. Blah. Blah.

While I know the importance of history, shouldn’t we be more focused on what the candidate is going to do? What is going to be done about the war? What is going to done about the economy? What is going to be done about jobs? What is going to be done about blah?

It seems lately that I am surrounded by people that spend too much time and energy focusing on what has already happened. Looking for someone to blame. Looking for a cure for their ills. Looking for reasons for anything. Why can’t anyone own up to whatever their problems are, suck it up and make a plan for them to get fixed? I know that whatever happened yesterday already happened and there isn’t a damned thing I can do to change that. If something I did yesterday was a mistake and made something for me more difficult today, then I have to look forward to tomorrow to fix it. It doesn’t do me any good to look back at yesterday and say “Well, the sun got in my eyes so I had to turn right instead of left”, when I should be looking right now at the sunglass store to get a new pair of sunglasses, right?

History is good. But it already happened. Move along already, the rest of us are waiting.

Time change

So, this was last night at 2AM, in case you forgot. You should have set your clock back 1 hour.

I did it this morning.

While doing so, I started thinking about how many different time keeping devices I have here at casa de db. Counting everything (including the clock in the lads room and my laptop) there are 11 different devices that keep time, of which 5 have to be set manually. I’m not a total time freak or anything, it’s just that everything keeps time these days.

Besides the PC’s (x3), there is: -The cable box (auto change) -The TV (manual) -Old grandfather style clock on the mantle (manual) -Wall clock (manual) -Coffee Pot (manual) -Alarm clock (x2, manual) -Cell phone.

Should keep me busy for a few minutes anyway.

How bad is it for you?

Bad stuff happening, Part II

Please forgive me for not getting back to this sooner.

I still can’t provide any real details, but essentially nothing happened besides a whole bunch of talk and hours of research that amounted to nothing (not to mention cancellation of an appointment for a potential side job). Yea, I was disappointed too.

This could be good. There is now a renewed sense of urgency to get things running the way they should. Easier. Less stressful. More accurate. Looks like I might even have to rev up the Access application that I built and get it ready for call management.

More funny stuff

MB over at defective yeti started telling jokes, and solicited even more from those wishing to comment. Current count is 285, and not a bad one in the lot! Click here for a good chuckle

bad stuff happening

And I’m right smack dab in the middle of it.

Actually, not so bad because I get to play detective AND a$$hold at the same time, which is kind of an added bonus for me. :D

I can’t say what this is about yet, but I’m sure I’ll have a few words about it in the next day or two.

And, I finally have corrected the layout issues with IE, so those of you that are still using IE should be able to see the page correctly now.
