Really getting up there
That’s 35K until I hit (hopefully) 200K miles. Rough calculations and previous experience says it will take me a little less than a year to hit that mark. I’m actually going to try to hit it by AMVIV5 (which will be the end of March). 35K miles in 7 months. Looks like I have some motoring to do! (via dbmini.us)

Sorry for the delay in getting this one posted, it’s been fairly hectic around here of late. db at WRR West, Todd in St. Louis for the Wine Run (don’t let him fool you, he went for Trader Joe’s) and Gabe on the track at Putnam Park diggin’ the new JCW Suspension. Plus a short update from Robert in Toronto. Nice and short for you lovers of the short shows. Don’t worry, we will make it up...

Todd and db taking a shot at making a news show. Looking for gory pictures of Todd’s franken-thumb? It’s in my del.icio.us. It’s pretty nasty, so consider yourself warned. Wingnut calls in (finally) and reports that the Euro Parcel shelf has, in fact, been crash tested and no one was hurt because of it. We also do a pretty good job answering his question about brakes. We also spend some time...

More Control Arms
That is what the rear control arm from the drivers side of my MINI looked like. See where the bend starts? That exactly the same spot on the passenger side where the break occured. Removing this one took a bit more work than removing the broken one. Although the bend doesn’t look that severe, it was probably off by close to an inch. It was wedged in pretty tight but, with my brother-in-laws...

A little talk about some issues we had during the week as Gabe drove back into Chicago. He wasn’t under attack, it was the air show in town. If you are an ‘02 to early ‘03 and you have the drilled control arms, you might want to check those out for cracks or bends. You can pick them up at your dealer or any of the fine sponsors listed on the right for a great price and they take 10 minutes with...

News of the week. After out earlier Skype blow out, we ended up recording on Saturday morning instead. Todd at WWR Headquarters, db at WRR Studios West (that has a nice sound I think) and Gabe from the Indiana Toll Road in his R56. There was some great news this week from Motoringfile, so if you didn’t get the chance to catch it all, don’t forget to go back and get caught up! Of course, the...

This is what happens when Skype doesn’t work. As cool as it might sound, no I wasn’t calling from Skylab. Yes, skylab is sitting at the bottom of an ocean or something. No, I wasn’t there either. And yes, we tried iChat, it sounded like listening to AM radio through a bad cell phone connection. So really, not much better than this half show. Anyway, just something a little different for...

Something new to check…
You remember last week I had a list of things to check for you with the higher mileage MINIs. Today I will be adding a new item. That, my friends, is what a broken lower control arm on an R50 looks like when you are stranded on the side of the road. That is what said control arm looks like after it has been replaced with the newer design. Please note the lighter metal (where the break happened...

Starting off tonights show you find out that db and Todd might or might not wear pants during the show, and that this was not the show for Motoringfile site news. And tonight’s intro done by Michael and Patricia of The Mail Buoy Podcast. Check them out if you are looking for any information on cruising. 1,000 downloads a day? No, Todd lies. We are closer to 1,200 per day, just so it’s known....

Yes, it’s so hot in the midwest that your eyeballs and the inside of your mouth sweat. Yea, that’s hot! Before getting into news of the week from Motoringfile, we spend some time talking about accessory purchases, the MINI in general, Monroni stickers, good gas mileage and Disney World. That and the fact that SoCal has cheaper gas prices than the midwest. How did that happen? Plus, a very...
